Fitbit will pull the plug on Fitbit Connect app for Windows and Mac on October 13

Fitbit will discontinue the Fitbit Connect app for Windows and macOS on October 13. As a result, users of Versa, Versa 2 and Ionic models will no longer be able to copy music to their smartwatch via their computer. Fitbit refers to apps from Deezer and Pandora for this.

9to5Google discovered a change one of Fitbit’s support pages. It says that the Fitbit Connect app for Windows and macOS will be deactivated on October 13. As a result, it will no longer be possible to place audio files via the Fitbit Connect app on the aforementioned smartwatches. Music files that are still on the smartwatch’s internal memory after this date will remain available.

Users who want to put audio files on their smartwatch after October 13 can do so via the apps of streaming services Deezer and Pandora, according to Fitbit. The latter only has an app available in the United States. A subscription is also required to use the services of Deezer and Pandora.

Fitbit shipped its Versa, Versa 2, and Ionic smartwatches with a built-in music app. Thanks to this app, it was possible to place audio files on the smartwatch via the Fitbit Connect app. Since the 2020 Versa 3 and Sense model, Fitbit no longer provides a built-in music app and the company refers to apps from streaming services to play music.
