First teardown shows Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max has thicker battery than XS Max

The first teardown of the iPhone 11 Pro Max shows that the battery is thicker than in the XS Max. The battery is also an L-shape, but now it is not visible that the L consists of two physically separated batteries.

The larger size of the 11 Pro Max already seemed to indicate that the battery would be physically larger and it was already clear that the capacity is 25 percent higher than the XS Max, but now a teardown from the Vietnamese DChannel also shows that he is fatter. Apart from the thickness, the battery appears to be approximately the same size.

The shape of the motherboard is also different with the 11 Pro Max. The PCB is smaller than the XS Max, and like its predecessor, Apple seems to be stacking components to save space in the case. The teardown also shows the front and rear camera modules. Physically nothing seems to have changed in Face ID compared to the XS Max.

DChannel is now the first to have a teardown, but more will likely follow in the coming days. The American iFixit is expected to publish its teardowns of the new iPhones on the day of release. The site bought copies in Australia earlier years to get the teardowns online early.
