I’ve been waiting for it. You’ve been waiting for it. We’ve all been in suspense for a while after Rockstar Games announced Red Dead Redemption 2 because we have not seen much more than atmospheric impressions yet. Now finally the first images of the gameplay have been released by the developer. If you have not seen them yet: be sure to check them out.
It is clear that the story of Arthur Morgan who stops with the Van Der Linde gang is wider than just going from A to B. the trailer shows that Red Dead Redemption 2 is very open and that you will have a lot of choice in how you want to play the game. Open world clichés such as hunting animals and riding around on your horse are not new, but the context in which this game puts them makes it very suitable. That it also looks fantastic also helps of course. The trailer says that all images were taken from the game itself, although a more than capable PC was probably used to produce those in-game images.
Now that we know what to expect from Red Dead Redemption 2, it seems an ever better idea that all other publishers have disappeared around the release of the title. The first reactions on Twitter do not lie either: everyone seems enthusiastic and especially about how beautiful the game looks like and how well the horses have been copied. People who play games really like horses very much, it turns out. That aside, the launch of RDR2 on October 26 is a big happening, because if there is one game that could put GTAV in the shadows, it is this one.
