hjs informed us that there is a new firmware for the Teac CD-W524E. Here there is finally mt.rainier support. If your CD burner has firmware version 1.0A, it must first be flashed with 1.0C which can be downloaded here. Below is the changelog of this firmware:

The drive supported “Mt. Rainier”.

The F/W was updated so that the Optical Pick Up would not hit the physical outer limit when the drive start up with a Disc having illegal TOC information.
