Firmware update: Nikon Z6 3.31

Nikon has for her Z6-digital system cameras released new firmware, with version number 3.31. These cameras have an fx-cmos image sensor with 24.5 megapixels on board and are suitable for lenses with a Nikon Z mount. The firmware can be installed from a Windows or macOS machine and is approximately 28MB in size. The list of changes for this update is as follows:

Changes from “C” Firmware Version 3.30 to 3.31

• Fixed an issue that occurred after the camera firmware was updated to version 3.30 that sometimes increased the noise generated by the aperture mechanisms when zoom or focus rings were rotated on certain F mount lenses connected via an FTZ mount adapter.

Changes from “C” Firmware Version 3.20 to 3.30

• The Save focus position option has been added to the SETUP MENU. If On is selected, the focus position in effect when the camera is turned off will be restored when the camera is turned back on. This option applies only when the camera is used with Z mount autofocus lenses.
• The Voice Memo option has been added to the functions that can be assigned to the Movie Record button via Custom Setting f2 (Custom Control Assignment). In the Voice Memo function, the movie-record button can be used to record and play back voice memos for up to approximately 60 seconds while a photo is displayed.
• Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the camera to stop responding when time-lapse movie recording was interrupted.
