Nikon has for its D3S DSLRs released new firmware with 1.01 as the version number. The firmware can be downloaded via Mac OS X and Windows be placed on the camera. These cameras have an FX-format cmos image sensor with 12.1 megapixels on board and can be equipped with interchangeable lenses. The list of changes for this update is as follows:

About this firmware update

This download updates firmware A of the D3S to version 1.01 and firmware B to version 1.01. This software can simultaneously update firmware A and B to the latest version. If this latest firmware version is already installed in the camera, you do not need to download or install this firmware update.

The following improvements have been made in A and B firmware version 1.01

  • Movie shooting specifications have changed as follows and an issue that in rare cases caused movie playback to appear to have stopped has been resolved.
  • When exposure control is enabled for live view shooting in tripod mode, the data and histogram can be displayed, but the histogram will no longer be displayed while movies are being recorded.
  • If the live view button is pressed while the AV cable EG-D2 is connected, the image will be displayed on the television and camera monitor, but the camera monitor will now turn off during movie recording. The camera monitor will turn back on when the AV cable EG-D2 is disconnected from the camera.
  • Some Simplified Chinese menus and help screens have been revised.
  • When certain memory cards were inserted into the camera, “CHA” was displayed in the top control panel and images could not be captured. This problem has now been resolved.
