Firmware Update: Netgear Nighthawk S8000 1.7.0.6

Spread the love

Netgear has released new firmware for its Nighthawk S8000 gaming and streaming switch. Also referred to as GS808E, this switch has eight gigabit Ethernet ports and supports bundling of up to four ports under the name link aggregation. This is supported, among others, by Netgear’s line of NAS products, such as the ReadyNAS. The design can also be mentioned separately for a network switch. This is therefore intended to be placed in plain sight. The version number is fixed to 1.7.0.6 and the list of changes looks like this:

New Features and Changes:

  • In addition to English, WEB GUI can now be displayed in German (Deutsch) or Japanese.
  • Add an option to disable/enable Denial of Service (DoS) protection.
  • Change the Web GUI color and layout to be consistent with SX10 (GS810EMX).
  • Add VLAN and Voice VLAN feature.
  • Add ON/OFF slider on LAG page.
  • Add access control list.
  • Instead of only port LEDs, the physical LED button on the back panel now controls both power LED and port LEDs.

Known Issues and Limitations:

  • Configuration file saved from v1.7.0.6 or newer version cannot be restored to a S8000 running with older FW version than v1.7.0.6.
