Firmware Update: NEC ND-3500 2.1A

A few days ago, NEC released a new firmware for its 16x speed dual mode dual layer DVD writer the ND-3500. This firmware has been given version number 2.1A and can only be run on drives already equipped with firmware revisions 2.18 or 2.19. New functionality is not added with the upgrade, but a large number of new discs are recognized by the burner. From the release notes it is possible to determine which ones they are:

The DvD medias below will be recognized with firmware 2.1A, but be informed, they won`t be added to our list of recommend medias because there is no guarantee for optimal burn results and performance.

This update does not add a “lightscribe technology” function.
