Firmware Update: NEC ND-1100A 1.A3

NEC has released a new firmware for the ND-1100A DVD rewriter. The only change is an increase in the number of DVD+R discs that can be recognized by the burner. According to the documentation in the download, this firmware only works as a version upgrade 1.A0† The new firmware can be conveniently installed from Windows, but if you have to flash to 1.0A first, an old-fashioned DOS bootflop will have to be used. The changelog shows the following changes:

What will be changed with firmware 1.A3?

  • This update does only add new media information to your burner, there will be nothing changed on writing method or problems in conjunction with some burner softwares.
  • This update do not create a duallayer burn function.
  • This update do not create writability of DVD-R/ -RW medias.
  • This update do not increase writing speed to 8x at DvD+R.
  • The DvD+R medias below will be recognized with firmware 1.A3, but be informed, they won`t be added to our list of recommend medias, because there is no guarantee for optimal burn results and performance.
