Firmware update: FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7270 54.04.76

AVM has released a new firmware for its FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7270, an all-in-one ADSL modem, router and access point, which also has extensive VoIP capabilities. There is also a USB connection, which makes it possible to share a printer or external storage capacity on the network. • Possibility to send feedback about the DSL-line directly from within the FRITZ!Box

• Improved compatibility for SetTopBoxes (RTSP)

Storage/NAS:

• FRITZ!Mediaserver streams music, videos and pictures via UPnP AV
• FRITZ!Mediaserver: improved Interop with UPnP-AV-Clients and Windows Media Player 11 (previews)
• Use Onlinememory like a local hard drive (WebDAV)

System:

• Improved security for the web interface
• Improved UPnP communication

telephone:

• Added supported Codecs (clear mode)
• SIP-proxy added (IP-telephones can now directly connect to the FRITZ!Box)
• Divert incoming anonymous calls depending on the number that is being called
• multiple fax numbers can forward the received faxes to different email-adresses

USB:

• Spindown for USB hard drives to reduce energy consumption
• Added support for card readers
• Support for UMTS USB sticks added

WLAN:

• Improved WLAN monitor now able to display disturbances from other wireless sources
• DHCP timeouts with WDS repeaters fixed
• “Green AP”: FRITZ!Box reduces energy consumption when no WLAN client is connected
• Autochannel now also reacts other wireless technologies using the same frequencies
• WPS compatibility improved
