Firmware Update: Creative Zen Micro 2.00.12

Creative has new firmware for the Zen Micro made available† It concerns the update with version number 2.00.12 and is from this server in the form of an installation package. After flashing the MP3 player, it will be recognized immediately by Windows XP from now on and it is not necessary to install additional software on the WinXP machine if music has to be put on the portable player. Version 2.00.12 has therefore been given the appropriate name ‘PlaysForSure’. Just make sure to back up the files on your Zen Micro, as installing new firmware will cause data loss. The release notes of the new operating software are as follows:

PlaysForSure/MTP devices enable you to:

• Enjoy seamless support with any computer running Windows Media Player 10 and Windows XP – no drivers or software needed
• Drag-and-drop songs or files to your player through Windows Explorer
• Use Auto Sync and Windows Media Player 10 playlist support
• Support future subscription-based online music services

PlaysForSure/MTP-enabled devices may:

• reduce the maximum number of media files because of additional memory requirements.
• require software updates if you want to use any currently installed applications like Creative MediaSource™, Zen Media Explorer, or other track management tools with your player.
