Firmware Update: Canon EOS 300D 1.11B7

As already mentioned in this news item, a firmware hack has been released that can activate the disabled functionality of a Canon EOS 300D. This allows the use of functions that were normally only available for the more expensive 10D. On the Canon site instructions about updating firmware. This firmware is released by ‘Wasia’ and is based on the official firmware revision 1.11. on Liems home page In addition to the list of features, we found the following changelog:

New in this release:

  • ISO 3200
  • mirror lock up

Changes:

  • ‘Left’ button selects the autofocus mode:
    • PA-1 – ONE Shot
    • PA-2 – AIservo (don’t work right now)
    • PA-3 – AIfocusAF
  • FEC is moved to JUMP button
  • ‘Right’ button has no function assigned
  • The default button in delete prompt was changed from ‘Cancel’ to ‘OK’. So, be aware. Now if you want to delete an image, press DEL button and then SET one. To Cancel press any other key.”
