Firmware update: Asuswrt-Merlin 386.2_2

Spread the love

Asus uses a Tomato-derived firmware called Asuswrt for its routers, such as the RT-AC68 and RT-AX88. This firmware is, with the exception of a few drivers, open source, whereby the closed binaries are included. Asuswrt-Merlin, in turn, is a modified version of Asus’ original firmware. It includes bug fixes and minor improvements, but still tries to stay close to the original, so that it remains possible to add new features that Asus introduces to the code. The changelog for version 386.2_2 looks like this:

Changed:

  • Tweaks to the Firmware Upgrade page display.
  • Enabling DOS protection will now also rate limit ICMPV6 echo (type 128) packets, like with IPv4.

Fixed:

  • IPv6 pings were blocked if sent below the rate limit instead of above (issue introduced in 42095)
  • kernel debug log entry (was removed) (RT-AC86U)
  • Field that accepted a float value would reject values equal to the allowed minimum (for example the QoS bandwidth limits)
  • QoS Bandwidth settings were hidden on non-HND models when accessing the QoS page.
