Firmware Update: Asus RT-AC68U 3.0.0.4.374.5656

Asus has released new firmware for the RT-AC68U. This dual-band router can provide clients with network access both wired and wireless. There are also two USB ports, one of which is USB 3.0, so that a printer or external storage can be shared over the network. The new firmware has version number 3.0.0.4.374.5656 and the download is just under 28MB in size. The release notes mention the following changes and improvements:

Security related issues:

• Fixed password disclosure in source code when adminstrator logged in.
• Changed OpenSSL Library from 1.0.0.b to 1.0.0.d. Both OpenSSL versions are not vulnerable to heartbleed bug.

Other:

• Fixed wake on lan magic packet sending issue.
• Fixed false alarm for samba and ftp permission.
• Fixed IPv6 related issues.
• >Samba/ media server/ iTunes server name can be changed.
