Fiber Optic Buitenaf reports that 52.2 percent of residents in rural areas of Gelderland Central and South have signed up for its fiber optic campaign. Construction will in principle follow in Beuningen, Druten, Heumen and Wijchen.

The letter of intent has been signed with these four municipalities, according to Glasvezel Buitenaf. It is expected that residents who take out a subscription will be able to use fiber in the third quarter of 2019. Agreements have not yet been made with the municipalities of Arnhem, Duiven, Mook en Middelaar, Overbetuwe, Rheden and Zevenaar, but Fiberglass Buitenaf ‘assumes that the signed covenants will follow shortly’.

In Berg en Dal, Lingewaard and a small part of Nijmegen, the limit of fifty percent registrations was not reached, so no construction will follow there. A competing project, Digital City, had previously confirmed that it would install fiber optic fiber for the 1,700 residents in the outskirts of Berg en Dal, writes De Gelderlander. This project has extended its registration period until December 1.
