All those contemporary trailers for new games look way too slick, a Doom fan might have thought. This fan decided to recreate the official trailer for Doom Eternal released at E3 with footage from the much older Doom II.

The fan with the YouTube account Szczebrzeszyniarz Brzeczyszczyczmoszyski has not only published his fake trailer with footage from Doom II, but also a video showing his creation and the official Doom Eternal trailer side by side. The similarities between the two trailers, aside from the graphical differences, are quite impressive.

According to the fan’s information, his fake trailer was made with custom code, wad files and a nice list of different Doom II mods. A total of eight different fan-created maps were used to create the visuals.

Publisher Bethesda and developer id Software announced at the last E3 trade show that Doom Eternal, the sequel to 2016’s Doom, will be released on November 22 for Google Stadia, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PCs and Xbox One. The trailer in question was also shown for the first time. That means the fan made his Doom II trailer in just under two weeks.
