Facebook releases test version Gameroom client with Unity support
Facebook has released a beta of its game client Gameroom. Developers will be able to use Unity 5.6 next year to publish games directly to the Gameroom platform. Facebook bundles games for its platform in the Gameroom app.
Facebook has released Gameroom’s public beta for Windows 7 and later versions of the OS. Game developers can use the client in combination with Unity and Unity 5.6 will be released early next year, which includes Facebook support, the social network reports. Developers can publish projects to the Windows app or to the Facebook site thanks to WebGL support in Unity.
Gameroom is Facebook’s gaming platform. The social network announced in May that it was developing such a platform, then under the name Facebook Games Arcade. In August, the company announced a partnership with Unity. Via the client, players can access Facebook games that they have played via the browser, for example. They can also find new games based on categories and suggestions. The client allows them to set notifications, create shortcuts and chat with fellow players.
