Facebook is testing ‘floating’ videos

Facebook is testing a feature that will allow users to play a video as a separate window in the site. This makes it possible to keep scrolling through the news feed while watching the video.

Some users can already apply the functionality, while others have not yet seen it, reports The Next Web. The social network does such tests more often, with the function later becoming available to all users or not. For example, it previously tested new designs in its mobile apps and changes to the interface.

The feature is visible through a button at the bottom of the video controls bar, next to buttons for resolution and volume. A click on the button causes the video to detach from its place on the site and play as a window on top of the Facebook feed.

Facebook itself has not disclosed anything about the new feature. The American social network is paying more and more attention to video features.
