Facebook introduces new logo to clarify ownership structure

By admin On Nov 4, 2019

Facebook will use a new logo within its products and marketing materials, including a new company website. The Facebook app will keep its current logos. The company says it does this to make it clearer which company is behind the products.

The new logo is simply ‘Facebook’, using a fairly unobtrusive font. This logo can take on all kinds of colors and is intended to indicate the parent company that is behind products such as Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.

According to Antonio Lucio, Facebook’s top marketing boss, the logo is designed to “make a visual distinction between the company and the app.” Facebook began adding “of Facebook” to all apps in June and will begin using the new logo in the coming weeks. The Facebook app keeps its own logo; the new logo is only for identifying the parent company of the same name that is behind the services.

Lucio explains to Bloomberg that research shows that most Americans do not know that WhatsApp and Instagram are owned by Facebook. If people find out, it would improve their perception and appreciation of Facebook as a company, he says. Lucio says that when thinking about ideas to differentiate the parent company from the social network, they also considered coming up with an entirely new name, but ultimately chose not to, because he said it would seem like Facebook would run away from its problems. .
