Every day 609 million people worldwide use Facebook on their mobile phone. Every month this concerns 1.01 billion active users. This means that the number of mobile users of the social network is growing considerably compared to last year.

When Facebook went public in 2012, the company called monetization from mobile users a risk to further growth. The latest quarterly figures show that those fears were unfounded. Daily mobile users grew 43 percent year-on-year and now 59 percent of revenue is generated by mobile, up 30 percent from a year ago.

In total, Facebook has 802 million daily users, 21 percent more than in the first quarter of last year. A total of 1.28 billion users use the site every month, which is 15 percent more than a year ago. The growth comes from Asia and especially ‘the rest of the world’: the number of monthly users in Europe, the US and Canada is not increasing much anymore. Revenue came in at $2.5 billion for the quarter, a 72 percent growth over the same period last year. Of that revenue, $2.27 billion comes from advertising.
