EVLeaks shows Galaxy S8 without a physical Home button
A photo that has appeared online shows the front and back of a device that would be the Galaxy S8 from Samsung. The image has been released by EVLeaks, which regularly puts images of unannounced smartphones online.
Among other things, it can be deduced from the photos that the device has a headphone connection at the bottom and a fingerprint reader at the back, next to the camera in a relatively high position. There is no physical Home button, which corresponds to previous rumors that Samsung would omit it.
EVLeaks reports more details to Venture Beat, partly citing an article in The Guardian. It would be two models, both with curved edges as with the Edge models. The super-amoled panels would display the QHD resolution. The aspect ratio would be an unusual 18.5:9.
In the photo there seems to be a micro USB connection, but EVLeaks guarantees that it is USB-c. Samsung makes visual search possible with the camera and integrates its new Bixby assistant in the devices, the claim states. Force Touch-like operation is also possible and the smartphone can be connected to a screen, keyboard and mouse with the Samsung DeX docking via HDMI.
The Korean company would like to announce the Galaxy S8 on March 29 at an event in New York. European prices would be 100 euros more expensive than last year’s S7 and S7 Edge: 799 euros for the 5.8″ model and 899 euros for the 6.2″ smartphone. The sale will start on April 21.
