The European Parliament will livestream the hearing with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. This has been announced by the Speaker of Parliament. The hearing will take place on Tuesday evening.

Parliament President Antonio Tajani says on Twitter that Zuckerberg also agrees to livestream the hearing. Initially the intention was to have the meeting take place behind closed doors, but MPs did not agree.

Zuckerberg is coming to the European Parliament to explain the use of private data on Facebook, as he did before in the US House of Representatives and a Senate committee. Zuckerberg said no to the British Parliament, the country Cambridge Analytica came from. The controversy over the use of private data arose when it emerged that Cambridge Analytica had bought and used data from 87 million Facebook users in the presidential elections in the United States. Cambridge Analytica tried to persuade Americans to vote for Donald Trump with targeted advertisements.

The European Parliament wants an explanation from Zuckerberg about how Facebook handles user data. In addition, parliament will discuss how other countries could interfere in member state elections through fake news on Facebook. The hearing will take place on Tuesday from 6:15 pm to 7:30 pm, Tajani said.
