Dyson has shared the specs of the Zone headphones with an air purifying nozzle. The headset has a maximum battery life of 4 hours when the air purification module is used. The Dyson Zone is not yet available in Europe.

The ANC system of the Dyson Zone unveiled earlier this year can reduce ambient noise in a city by up to 38 dB, according to the brand. The headphones have a sound range of 8 Hz to 21 kHz, although the noise reduction only works for frequencies between 20 Hz and 20 kHz. Depending on the conditions, the headphones are said to last up to 50 hours; this applies when only the headphones are used for audio purposes without active noise canceling or a call connection. The Zone must be able to be fully charged within 3 hours. When the detachable air purification module is used and audio is listened to, the battery life is about 4 hours.

The Zone headphones contain a mouthpiece with electrostatic filters; this, according to Dyson, would capture ’99 percent of particulate pollution’ as small as 0.1 microns from the air. It also contains ‘potassium-enriched carbon filters’ that would filter acidic gases from the air. Nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide, among others, are associated with urban pollution, which would fight the air filter. Dyson does not say what percentage of the stated gases are filtered out of the air by the carbon filters.

The Dyson Zone will be available in China from January 2023 and will be released in March of that year in the United States, United Kingdom, Hong Kong and Singapore. It is not clear whether the headphone-air purifier hybrid will also be released in Europe. Also, no recommended prices have yet been announced for the product or any replaceable filters.
