Driver update: Pinnacle DV 500 4.5

Pinnacle has released new drivers for its DV500 DVD creation tools. The version number is 4.5, with a few notes:

• This version does not work with a Premiere 5.1 installation.
• Windows NT 4.0 is no longer supported with this version
• It is necessary to uninstall a previous version of the DV500 software to avoid installation problems with the new version.
• The contents of the driver will be copied to C:DV500. You need to start Setup from this location

[break]The following has been added or changed in version 4.5 of the driver:[/break]

• 1394 driver support : This version of the software requires standard Microsoft 1394 driver installation. The proprietary Pinnacle drivers are not installed anymore. It is now possible to connect 1394 hard disk, scanners, CD burners to the1394 ports of the DV500.
• Premiere 6.5 support : This version installs properly under Premiere 6.5 and it supports “type in context” with Adobe Premiere Title Designer.
• Pro-ONE 3D effects : This version of the software includes most of the 3D transitions and filters known from Pro-ONE. The motion tracker plugin is also included in this build.
• Hollywood FX 4.6 : This version of the software also installs HFX 4.6, a new set of superb 3D effects than can be used within DV500 projects. This version also provides a set of filters as an extension.
• MPEG2 editing : This version of the DV500 Plus software allows you to edit MPEG2 video directly in the Premiere timeline, simply by importing MP2 video and/or WAV or MPA audio files. These may be mixed freely with DV AVI files.
• Bug fixes :
  • No crash when importing a large number of AVI files, even when their audio tracks are faulty.
  • DV Codec improvements (extended color space)

[break]In the 243MB large web install, a number of extras are not present. If you can do without DirectX, Direct Media, Acrobat Reader, Manuals, TREX and HFX4.5 in the download, there is no need to worry. If you do want one of these, you will have the CD have to order.
