Driver Update: nVidia Linux Display Driver 1.0-7174

nVidia today released a new set of display drivers with version number 1.0-7174 that are suitable for both the IA32AMD64– and FreeBSD-platform. Before you can use these drivers, you must first agree to the NVIDIA Software License, although that won’t be a problem for most people. The changelog of this release shows the following changes:

Linux IA32 & Linux AMD64 Release Highlights:

  • Fixed performance problem when using AGPGART.
  • Fixed support for GeForce2 Integrated GPUs.
  • Fixed a workstation graphics stability problem.
  • Improved XRandR rotation support.
  • Fixed installation problems on some Linux 2.6 kernels.
  • Updated documentation.

FreeBSD Release Highlights:

  • Supports FreeBSD 5-STABLE (5.3-RELEASE or later)
  • Added support for the latest NVIDIA GPUs, including the GeForce 6600 and 6200 with TurboCache(TM)
  • Added support for the KSE threading libraries.
