Driver Update: Amigamerlin 3.0 XP

on 3dfxzone.it a new driver has been released for the 3dfx Voodoo 4/5 but it is also suitable for the Voodoo Banshee, Velocity 100/200, and Voodoo3 video cards. The driver is labeled Amigamerlin 3.0 XP and has the following release notes:

The windows display and miniport driver are newly built binaries by the 3dfxzone driver team. The display driver still uses DX7 core. However a good deal of bug fixes and additions have been made and they should work well for both win2k and winxp.

To list a few of the changes:

• The strange banding effect when exiting to desktop from UT2003 has been fixed. The fix should work for any D3D app that supplies a gamma modifier.
• Gamma control for video overlay has been added. Adjustments can be made from 3dfx tools.
• Fixed so that the original 3dfx Glide driver will work with out any hacks for winxp.
• Added support for Voodoo5 6000. All 4 VSA chips will be used running in 4way SLI, 2x,4x,8xFSAA modes. If you have model number 210-0391-001-A or A3 and have stability issues, you should apply Hank Semenec’s V56k hardware mod. Get the recipie at the 3dfxzone forums.
