DJI and Hasselblad have started offering a set consisting of the DJI Matrice 600 drone and the Hasselblad A5D camera for aerial photography. The camera has a medium format sensor with a resolution of 50 megapixels.

The bundle is the first concrete product announcement from the two brands since DJI and Hasselblad announced their collaboration in November last year. They are not new products; both the drone and the camera were already available separately. The set has a suggested retail price of 24,400 euros, excluding VAT.

DJI presented the Matrice 600, or M600, in April. The quadcopter itself weighs 9.1 kg and can carry up to 6 kg. That is enough to get the Hasselblad A5D camera including the Ronin-MX gimbal into the air. The combination weighs about 4 kg.

The Hasselblad A5D camera houses the same 50-megapixel sensor found in medium format cameras, such as the H6D and the recently announced X1D system camera. There is no movie function available, the A5D is intended for aerial photography only.

The lens has a focal length of 50mm and a maximum aperture of f/3.5. Because the sensor in the Hasselblad camera is larger than that of a full-frame DSLR, the focal length corresponds to 42mm in full-frame equivalent. The camera has no moving parts and the focus of the lens is set to infinity.
