A German distributor has posted slides online showing the alleged upcoming releases from AMD and Intel. There is, among other things, a Z490 chipset from AMD. In addition, there will be an Intel Z390 chipset, for which an octacore CPU will be released at the end of this year.

According to the slides, AMD will release the Z490 chipset for motherboards with AM4 socket in June. What this new chipset brings compared to the current X470 chipset is not yet clear. In any case, it concerns a higher positioned chipset. Cheaper motherboards with the B450 chipset would appear in July.

According to the roadmap, Intel’s Z390 chipset will be released in the third quarter of this year and an octacore processor of the Coffee Lake generation will be available in the fourth quarter. The first samples of those CPUs will be ready in June, according to the slides. The Z390 chipset comes on motherboards with the same lga1151 socket as the Z370 chipset. Whether the upcoming Intel octacores only work with Z390 motherboards, or can also be used in Z370 boards, is not yet clear.

The arrival of the Intel Z390 chipset and an octacore processor with socket lga1151 has been rumored for a long time and its arrival has already been confirmed in documents from Intel.

Furthermore, the slides show the arrival of a second generation AMD Threadripper processors in August and a refresh of the corresponding X399 motherboards. It was known that AMD comes with new CPUs for high-end desktops. AMD has previously indicated that they will be released in the second half of this year.

The slides were discovered by AnandTech. They were part of a 30-minute webinar put on YouTube by a German distributor. The video has been removed by the company, as has the page the video was on. It can still be seen via Google’s cache.
