A developer has released a custom ROM based on Android 10 on the Nintendo Switch. The firmware is based on LineageOS 17.1 and code for the Nvidia Shield. Install works via Hekate and custom recovery TWRP.

The custom firmware supports over-the-air updates, according to the post from XDA-Developers member bylaws, who put the custom firmware online. Users need a Switch that is ‘RCM exploitable’; in practice, these are early versions of the Switch, as the exploit uses a bootrom vulnerability that Nintendo fixed in later batches.

Users need to dump the data from Joy-Cons first to make it work in Android firmware, then it is necessary to flash TWRP and partition the SD card. Android can then be installed from TWRP.

The firmware is largely based on the work of developer Steel01, who provides the Nvidia Shield with custom firmware. That is possible, because the Shield also has an Nvidia Tegra soc on board. A year and a half ago, a version of Android for the Switch became available for the first time.
