Data 100 million accounts social network VK.com offered on the internet
The data of more than 100 million accounts of the social network VK.com, which is mainly popular in Russia, is made available on the Internet. According to the man or the collective behind the hack, the passwords were not stored encrypted.
Leakedsource received a dataset related to 100,544,934 accounts, with each entry consisting of an email address, first and last name, location, phone number, password, and in some cases a second email address. The site publishes a brief analysis of passwords and email addresses. The dataset is offered on The Real Deal marketplace by the hacker or the Peace collective, under the name Peace of Mind. Under this name, the data of hacks from LinkedIn and MySpace, among others, were previously offered.
Peace charges 1 bitcoin for access to the set, converted 515 euros. It is striking that the passwords were not stored encrypted, according to Peace. The hack is said to have taken place between 2011 and 2013. VK, also known as Vkontakte, is particularly popular in Russia. By now, the social network is said to have more than 350 million accounts. The site was founded in 2006 by Pavel Durov, who later started Telegram.
The publication of the data is the umpteenth in a series. Previously, extensive data sets from LinkedIn, MySpace and Tumblr, among others, were offered online.
