Valve has released an update for the battle royale mode of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive released late last year. The update called Sirocco adds respawns and an Apex Legends-esque communication system with a ping button, among other things.

From the patch notes and a special page about the Sirocco update, it appears that the respawn system does not work as it does with Apex Legends. After the update, players can return at any time, as long as the teammates are still alive. The fallen player can choose a desired respawn location. In Apex Legends, teammates must move fallen teammates’ banners to a special place before the resurrection can take place.

In addition, the update adds a ping system. Such a communication system became known in particular through its implementation in Apex Legends. This allows players to point to objects or opponents, so that teammates know, for example, that there is something to find in that place.

In addition, new items will become available, such as bulletproof shields and ‘mines’ that more or less act as jump pads and can launch opponents into the air. There are also perks that allow players to adapt their abilities to their playing style before a game round starts. For example, it is possible to be dead less long, to jump very far, to use your own parachute, to shoot a taser or to heal yourself.

The name of the update is also the name of a new folder that has been added. The Sirocco playing field has a desert area as a setting with lots of space, small villages and underground passages. The weapons on this map have more ammo and tablets indicate the location of nearby weapon crates.

The battle royale mode, called Danger Zone, was introduced in CS:GO late last year. It also made the shooting game free to play. In Danger Zone, up to eighteen players fight to be the last one standing.
