The FTC has revealed a new document with attached images of the alleged roadmap of an Xbox Series refresh, due for release in the fall of 2024. Xbox also appears to be working on a new universal Xbox controller, which is scheduled for May 2024.

The updated Series X and S currently have the code names Ellewood and Brooklin, according to sheets Roadmap 2030 presentation. The files are attachments of some text documents and appear to have been unintentionally published with the texts. According to Xbox, the consoles are again intended for 4k and 1440p gaming respectively, and have roughly the same computing power in teraflops as the respective predecessors. The consoles will have support for the Xbox Wireless 2 protocol, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6E. The Series X refresh also has a USB-C port and is supplied without a disk drive.

Based on the images, Xbox will announce the ‘mid-generation refresh’ during an Xbox event in June 2024. The 1TB version of the Ellewood Series S will then be released at the end of August 2024 for the same price as the original Series S: 300 euros. The 2TB version of the Brooklin Series X should be released at the end of October 2024 for the same price as before: 500 euros. Based on an image, the latter console appears to have the same dark color as the original Series

The documents also show that the gaming company is working on the Xbox Universal Controller under the code name Sebile. The controller will support the new Xbox Wireless 2 protocol and Bluetooth 5.2. Furthermore, Xbox seems to be using haptic feedback, although it is not clear whether it is pressure-sensitive feedback on the buttons or a usual vibration motor. The consoles listed come standard with a new Xbox Universal Controller. The controller’s battery is also removable and the thumbsticks are modular.

Future Xbox consoles that are released after the refreshes will also receive a new processor, according to the presentation, although Xbox has not yet made a final decision on this. It is still being considered whether an Arm64 or AMD64 CPU will be used. As far as the graphics processor is concerned, the company has again opted for a GPU that was made in collaboration with AMD, apparently based on Navi 5. It is not clear what is meant by this.

*Xbox Series console mid-generation refresh specifications are based on roadmap documents that may not be complete and are subject to change. Due to the lack of further information about the CPU and GPU of the refresh series, it is assumed that the upcoming consoles will have the same hardware.

Update, 12:05 p.m: The original article attributed specifications of a future Xbox to the refresh consoles. This has been adjusted in both the article and the table. Thanks to JackAvery. Furthermore, Microsoft’s fiscal year was confused with the calendar year. As a result, the release date of the consoles was incorrect. This has been tightened.
