Canadian developer Minh Le, known by his nickname Gooseman and one of the creators of Counter-Strike, is going to work at Pearl Abyss. Le is working on a new project at the South Korean studio. Pearl Abyss is the creator of mmorpg Black Desert Online.

Pearl Abyss does not give details about the new project. The studio only reports in a press release that Minh Le is now employed by the company and is part of that project. The studio also says it will continue to attract developers worldwide.

Minh Le is one of the creators of Counter-Strike. The first version of the popular shooter appeared in 1999. Le was responsible for much of the programming of the game, which originated as a mod for Half-Life. After the mod became very popular, Valve bought the rights to Counter-Strike and hired the creators, including Le, to continue working on the game.

Le left Valve after plans for Counter-Strike 2 were shelved. He himself started working on a new shooter called Tactical Intervention. In 2009, he joined South Korea’s FIX Korea to continue working on that game. The game came out in 2013, but was not a huge success. Last year the servers were closed.

The Counter-Strike creator left for Facepunch Studios after the release of Tactical Intervention, where he worked on survival game Rust. He left that developer in February this year. Pearl Abyss is Le’s new employer. The South Korean studio is known for the sandbox mmorpg Black Desert Online.
