Chinese manufacturer makes phone with infrared camera and screen on the back
The Chinese manufacturer Doogee would like to present its S98 smartphone next month. On the back is a round screen and an infrared camera. In addition to the S98, a Pro and Ultra variant would also follow later.
The round screen is intended for taking selfies with the rear cameras, GSMArena reports. That feature is not unique. Some other phones have already done so, such as the 2019 Nubia Z20 and the 2021 Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra.
The cameras are located around the round screen. The primary camera has a 64-megapixel sensor. There is also an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. The Night Vision camera has a Sony IMX350 sensor, a 20-megapixel sensor with pixels of 1 micron in size, good for a total area of about 20 square millimeters. The light comes from two infrared LEDs.
Despite the screen on the back for selfies, there is also a front camera. The 16-megapixel camera is housed in a drop-shaped notch in the 6.3″ LCD with full HD resolution. The S98 gets a MediaTek Helio G96-soc. The Pro and Ultra will follow later. They have different specifications, many of which are still available. unknown, for example, the Ultra would get a thermal camera.
