CD Projekt RED has released the first Cyberpunk 2077 patch of its 2021 roadmap. Patch 1.1, according to the developer, focuses on bug fixes and stability improvements. The update also lays ‘the foundation for future patches’.

Patch 1.1 is now available for all platforms on which the game has been released, CD Projekt RED writes on its website. Among other things, the update optimizes the memory consumption of the different versions, which should improve the stability of the game. Various crashes and bugs are also being fixed, according to the patch notes. The PS4 Pro and PS5 should perform better when there are many NPCs in view and the developer states that several crashes on the regular PS4 have been solved. The various Xbox One consoles will receive further memory optimizations in the new update.

CD Projekt RED also reverts to a problem with save files. The game had an issue that caused save files to become unnecessarily large when users made extensive use of the crafting system. In addition, files larger than 8MB became permanently unusable. The studio already increased the maximum size of save files in hotfix 1.06 to prevent that. In patch 1.1, further optimizations are made, making save files smaller. The file sizes of existing save files are also reduced with patch 1.1, but files corrupted before hotfix 1.06 will be lost.

Developer CD Projekt RED will release patch 1.2 in the coming weeks, with free DLCs and next-gen updates to follow later

The arrival of patch 1.1 was already announced earlier. The developer introduced a new roadmap last week, stating that two updates will be released in the coming weeks. Patch 1.1 is one of them, with the developer already reporting that this update would mainly focus on fixing bugs and improving stability. Patch 1.2 will follow in ‘the weeks after’, which the studio says is larger and brings more significant changes. A next-gen update for the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X and S will follow in the second half of 2021.

Cyberpunk 2077 was released on December 10, 2020 and was subsequently criticized for its bugs and technical issues. The game suffers from bugs on all platforms, but the problems are greatest on the regular PS4 and Xbox One. CD Projekt RED has since been sued by investors for alleged deception regarding Cyberpunk 2077 and the Polish market watchdog is also investigating the situation. The developer would not have been honest about the state of the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the role-playing game.
