6.1 million copies of Resident Evil Village have been sold. This is evident from the annual figures of Capcom. The Japanese game developer says it has ‘recorded a record high profit for the fifth year in a row’.

The financial year ended on March 31, 2022. Capcom declares that the profit mainly due to the sale of digital games, including Resident Evil Village. It was released on May 7, 2021 and sold 3 million copies in the first week after release. Another game that brought in good sales was Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. Approximately 1.5 million units were sold. The game was released on June 25, 2021 for Nintendo Switch and Windows.

Capcom’s net sales for the past financial year amounted to 110 billion yen, or approximately 804 million euros. That’s an increase of 15.5 percent from the previous fiscal year, Capcom said. Capcom’s total annual sales of digital games and DLC also reached 32.6 million copies. Last year 30.1 million units were sold.

Whether Resident Evil Village will catch up with its predecessor Resident Evil 7 in terms of sales is too early to say. Resident Evil 7 Biohazard was released in January 2017. Last year, Capcom reported that it had sold more than ten million copies. Before that, the best-selling title in the franchise was the 2019 Resident Evil 2 remake, which had delivered 8.6 million copies at the time.
