Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will be released for the PlayStation consoles, Xbox consoles and PC. The PC versions will be available on Steam and Battle.net. It was not clear at first on which platforms the game would be released. An open beta test will be available later this year for those who pre-ordered the game.

According to the official Call of Duty website Players who pre-order will get access to the open beta test of the CoD: Modern Warfare II. It does not matter which version of the shooter they order.

The so-called ‘Cross-Gen Bundle’ is the standard version of the game and costs $69.99. Developer Infinity Ward cannot yet say anything about any bonuses that this version will contain. While owners of the PS4 version can upgrade to the PS5 version for free, the PS5 version does not offer the option to go back to the PS4 version. A deluxe ‘Vault Edition’ has also been announced for $99.99. This contains a number of bonuses, such as a battle pass, different skins and xp boosts.

After the release of Modern Warfare II, Warzone 2.0 will be released, a new version of the free-to-play Call of Duty game Warzone. The progress players made in the first Warzone cannot be carried over to Warzone 2.0. The game will have a new progression system, writes Infinity Ward. The new Warzone will also contain a sandbox mode, in which players are given different tasks.

Modern Warfare II will be a sequel to 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and will be released on October 28, 2022. Infinity Ward confirmed earlier this year that there would be a sequel for both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone. It is therefore not a remake or remaster of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 from 2009.
