FileCrop, a search engine that searches file sharing websites, is no longer accessible. The site has been closed by order of the British police. A notice has been posted on the website stating that the site is under investigation for copyright infringement.

This is reported by TorrentFreak, who discovered that FileCrop is no longer accessible to users. A report from the Intellectual Property Crime Unit, which is part of the British police, has been posted to the file search engine site. According to the authorities, investigations are underway into possible copyright infringement of FileCrop.

FileCrop is a search engine intended for searching for files. Several file sharing websites are searched for this, including popular sites such as RapidShare, Mediafire and Mega. Users could filter files by size. TorrentFreak states that FileCrop complied with takedown requests, making it unclear on what grounds the site was taken offline. The British police have not yet provided details about the intervention at FileCrop.

Last year, FileCrop’s domain was already blocked by the British authorities, as part of a series of bans on websites involved in piracy. However, the blockade was short-lived.
