According to CD Projekt Red, creator of The Witcher 3, the upcoming expansion will contain over twenty hours of gameplay. The game studio shows two screenshots of the Blood and Wine DLC for the first time and gives some details.

The second expansion for The Witcher 3 will be released in the first half of 2016, according to the game’s blog. A specific date hasn’t been announced yet, but the first DLC was released last October, so it seems likely that the new Blood and Wine DLC will be released sooner rather than later in the first half of next year.

Blood and Wine is set in the Toussaint region, a landscape untouched by the war and with a carefree atmosphere. However, that atmosphere harbors a bloody secret that the player will have to unravel. CD Projekt Red promises a huge area in the expansion, which is visually very different from what gamers are used to from Wild Hunt and the first DLC: Hearts of Stone. That first expansion contained about ten hours of gameplay, with the new DLC that is double according to the makers.

According to the Polish game studio, The Witcher 3 has won more than three hundred awards in the past year. The game was recently declared the big winner at The Game Awards 2015. The Witcher 3 continued to compete with Fallout 4 and Metal Gear Solid V. CD Projekt Red was also named best developer of the year.

Those who have purchased the season pass, which costs 24.99 euros, for The Witcher 3, will receive the Blood and Wine DLC as soon as it is available. It is not yet known how much the expansion will cost separately. The first DLC cost 9.99 euros, but since the second DLC is larger, it will probably be more expensive.
