Blizzard has shown a trailer for the next World of Warcraft expansion Shadowlands, set in the continent of the same name. The expansion will get new zones, dungeons and raids. Shadowlands will be released in 2020.

The trailer shows that the current Lich King, Bolvar Fordragon, will play a major role in the new expansion. Fordragon was given this title after Arthas Menethil was killed at the end of the 2008 Wrath of the Lich King expansion. The trailer shows Sylvanas Windrunner, the current leader of the Horde, destroying the Lich King’s helmet. As a result, Azeroth is without Lich King for the first time. Players must therefore travel to the Shadowlands.

The expansion brings a new continent to the game, changing multiple mechanics and systems. There are also new factions that players can join. Shadowlands also adds several new zones. They are called Revendreth, Arenweald, Maldraxxus and Bastion. The expansion also includes new dungeons and raids. In Shadowlands, new covenants are also being introduced, but it is still unclear what exactly they are. It may become a kind of faction that players can join.

The arrival of the Shadowlands in World of Warcraft has long been hinted at. Earlier this week, an image of Bolvar Fordragon appeared on the internet. Shadowlands will be the eighth expansion the game will receive, and will be released in 2020.
