Following its music bundles, BitTorrent will also distribute series exclusively. The company will be distributing the sci-fi series Children of the Machine via bittorrent bundles next fall. There will be a paid version and a free version that will contain ads.

Children of the Machine is produced by Marco Weber, previously responsible for the comedy Igby Goes Down and the science-fiction film The Thirteenth Floor. The series is set in the year 2031 in a world where robots rule. According to Adweek, BitTorrent will bundle the pilot episode in the fall of 2015 via its eponymous p2p protocol, only to start offering the remaining seven episodes in a bundle six weeks later.

The series can be downloaded for free via the bittorrent protocol, but the viewer will have to be satisfied with advertisements. There will also be a version that will cost $ 4.95, converted 4 euros, in which no advertising can be seen. Finally, for fans of Children of the Machine, a bonus pack with extra material will be available for 8.95 dollars, approximately 7.17 euros.

The producer says that he has deliberately chosen BitTorrent as a distribution partner because the bundles that the company releases via p2p would fit well with the target group of the series. BitTorrent also charges significantly less than many of its competitors with a commission of 10 percent. Content providers can also add advertisements themselves and they gain insight into anonymized statistics.

BitTorrent is emerging more and more as a modern media company à la Netflix and Spotify. The company has already won a number of major music artists for its bundles, containers that can be distributed efficiently via the torrent protocol, whether or not for a fee, and by now also targeting the television market, BitTorrent seems to appeal to an even larger audience. .
