Bitmain starts production 7nm-ASIC for minus cryptocurrency

The Chinese chip designer Bitmain announces the mass production of the BM1391. It is his first 7nm-asic, for mining cryptocurrency based on the sha256 algorithm. Bitmain will equip Antminer systems with the new chips.

TSMC manufactures the 7nm finfet chips for Bitmain. The BM1391-Mining-asic consists of more than one billion transistors and offers a ratio of consumption versus capacity of 42J / TH. This is 98J / TH at the current BMN137 produced at 16nm.

The start of mass production was announced by Wu Jihan, CEO of Bitmain, during the Digital Mining Summit in Georgia. Bitmain is going to provide the new Antminer systems with the new ones, with some focusing more on performance and others on economy.

Bitmain is the market leader with its Antminer systems . In addition, the mining pool Antpool, BTC.com and the tensor processor Sophon fall under the Chinese company.
