In an interview with Gameinformer, Fallout 4 executive producer Todd Howard announced that the promised mods support should be released for PC in April. Xbox One support is coming in May; the PlayStation 4 will follow a month later.

According to Howard, the period to implement official support for mods will fall between the releases of the first and second DLC packs, which should be released in April and May. The implementation adds the Creation Kit, which allows players to develop official mods. During the interview, he indicated that people are already beta testing. The release on consoles will have to wait longer. Howard suspects it will take at least a month for support to roll out to the Xbox One version of Fallout 4. PlayStation 4 users will likely have to wait another month. It is the first time that Bethesda will offer support for mods on consoles.

Howard also indicated that it was noticeable that more digital than physical copies of the game were sold on day one. This is a shift that started to be noticed in several games during 2015. During the first three quarters of 2015, sales of digital copies of games outpaced physical sales. Figures for the fourth quarter, traditionally the most important quarter due to the holiday season, are not yet known, but in any case Fallout 4 follows the trend of growth in digital sales.

Howard released some new information about the survival mode and the adjustments that are being made to it. For example, the studio is said to be testing options such as disabling fast travel and the only way to save is to put the character to sleep. It is also possible that the player has to watch out for diseases, for example. Survival mode adjustments will first come to PC in a Steam beta, after which changes can be made based on feedback. After that, the final version will be brought to consoles.
