EA and Dice will develop a platform for PC players of Battlefield 4 with a premium account to test upcoming patches. Details about the platform appeared on the official Battlefield blog on Thursday evening.

With the Community Test Environment, the game developers give players the opportunity to provide their opinions and feedback on changes before they are implemented for all Battlefield 4 players. One of the first things that will be worked on is the netcode, something that players have been complaining about since the game’s release. EA and Dice hope to improve the overall quality of the shooter with the CTE. The test platform will work with servers that support 64 players and will only be available to PC players of the game.

Interested parties can register for the test platform via a special site. They can then download the Battlefield 4 CTE client from Origin. Users can post their feedback on upcoming patches and associated changes on the CTE forums. Although registration has only been open since Thursday evening, the platform has already reached the maximum number of registrations during the course of Friday. It is unknown if and when more players can participate.

Letting players test upcoming patches is nothing new, by the way. For example, Riot Games lets League of Legends players test upcoming patches through its PBE servers. Wargaming.net, the studio behind World of Tanks, already let players test a number of patches of WoT.
