Ayaneo launches Flip DS handheld with two screens and AMD Ryzen 7 7840U or 8840U

Ayaneo introduces its Flip series of handhelds. These have a foldable design with a screen at the top. There is a keyboard at the bottom in the case of the Flip KB and a second screen in the case of the Flip DS. The devices will be delivered from March.

Both the Ayaneo Flip DS and the Flip KB have an AMD Ryzen CPU with Zen 4 cores and an integrated RDNA 3 GPU, also writes VideoCardz. The Chinese manufacturer will initially come with an AMD Ryzen 7 7840U processor, which has eight cores, an integrated Radeon 780M GPU with twelve RDNA 3 compute units and a TDP of 28W. That variant will be delivered from March.

Flip versions will follow in April with the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U processor, which appears to have almost identical specifications, apart from a more powerful Ryzen AI engine that can be used to accelerate certain AI computing tasks. Ayaneo also provides the devices with 16GB or 32GB Lpddr5x-6400 memory and an M.2-2230 SSD with PCIe 4.0 interface of 512GB or 2TB.

Both Flip handhelds have a primary 7″ screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The screen can be folded, thanks to the Nintendo DS-like design of the handheld. The DS version also has a second screen with 3.5″ diagonal and a resolution of 960×640 pixels. The KB version instead has a compact keyboard with RGB LEDs.

The device also has joysticks that sit next to the second screen or the keyboard, shoulder buttons, a gyroscope for motion controls and an optical sensor that can function as a kind of trackpad. The device supports USB4 and has an OCuLink connector, a standard that is mainly used in servers and can be suitable for connecting PCIe devices such as external GPUs.

The Ayaneo Flip KB will be available starting at $799, although the manufacturer is also offering an Early Bird price of $100 less mentions on IndieGogo. The DS variant with a second screen will cost an additional $40.
