AVerMedia introduces its first USB capture card with HDMI 2.1 support. It concerns a Live Gamer Ultra 2.1, which can record a maximum of 4k60 images. The capture card will be available at a suggested retail price of $300.

The AVerMedia Live Gamer Ultra 2.1 has a USB 3.2 Gen2 interface with transfer speeds of 10Gbit/s, the manufacturer reports. The capture card can therefore record 4k images at 60Hz. The capture card also offers up to 4k passthrough at 144Hz, including HDR support and a variable refresh rate.

This makes it possible to play games at 4k and 144Hz, for example with a PC or current-gen console, and record these images at 4k and 60Hz. 1080p240 and 1440p144 passthrough is also supported. According to AVerMedia, a firmware update will be released next week that will enable 1440p passthrough at 240Hz.

The Live Gamer Ultra 2.1 is one of the first HDMI 2.1 capture cards that work via USB. Most capture cards that support such features are only available as PCIe plug-in cards. According to AVerMedia, the device will be available immediately and will have a suggested retail price of $300.
