AUO unveils 34″ gaming monitor with 800R . curvature
Display manufacturer AU Optronics has shown several new monitors for gamers as part of the SID Display Week 2021. The company is launching a 34″ monitor with a curvature of 800R, among other things.
The monitor that AUO shows has an aspect ratio of 21:9 and a resolution of 3440×1440 pixels. The maximum refresh rate is 165Hz. The most striking feature is the curvature of 800R, which is equivalent to the curvature of a circle with a radius of 800mm.
This means the panel has a stronger bend than most curved gaming monitors. These often have a curvature of 1000R, such as a model in the recent Samsung S6 series and the Optix Mag342cqr that MSI announced last year. AUO itself also announces a new monitor with a curvature of 1000R. This is a 27″ model with resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and refresh rate of 240Hz.
The manufacturer also showed a 25″ monitor with a 360Hz refresh rate. This monitor has a relatively low resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and an AHVA panel. AHVA stands for Advanced Hyper-Viewing Angle, AUO’s name for ips. Another AUO gaming monitor gets a slightly lower frame rate, 300Hz, but this model has a screen diagonal of 27 inches and a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. The company provides this monitor with a matte layer.
Finally, in its video about the SID Display Week 2021 announcements, AUO shows a 17.3″ display for laptops with mini LEDs. This screen offers a brightness of 1180cd/m² and is allowed to carry the HDR1000 label. The panel can adjust the brightness. in 512 zones and offers a 4k resolution in combination with a refresh rate of 120Hz.
It is not yet known when monitor and laptop manufacturers can purchase the panels and what prices to expect for the final products.
