Asus will offer the Android Wear 2.0 update for the Zenwatch 3 to users starting next week. Zenwatch 2 customers will also receive the update in July, although some users will have to wait until August.

The last users of the Zenwatch 2 will receive the Android Wear 2.0 update at the beginning of August, Wareable writes. The Asus watches are two of the last to get the update. Manufacturers have been distributing the update since early spring. For example, the Huawei Watch got it in May, other watches already had it then.

Android Wear 2.0 is a major update that Google announced in early February. Google added Google Assistant to watches, among other things, while apps will now run on the watch instead of on the paired phone. For that reason, there is also a Play Store on smartwatches with Android Wear 2.0.

Asus released the square Zenwatch 2 in the fall of 2015, while the round Zenwatch 3 hit stores last fall. The watches both have an OLED screen and a relatively low price for a clock with Android Wear.
