Apple has started distributing the third public beta for a total of four operating systems: iOS 13, iPadOS 13, tvOS 13, and macOS Catalina 10.15. The updates are available to anyone who has signed up for the Apple Beta Software Program.

The third public beta version of iOS 13 contains broadly the same innovations as the fourth developer beta released by Apple yesterday. This phase involves subtle adjustments; the final version of the operating system may appear as early as September. In the latest beta, Apple primarily comes with a fix for the security problem that surfaced in the previous version. Passwords stored in it were not sufficiently protected when Face ID and Touch ID features were enabled.

The Quick Actions function on the home screen, which appears when an icon is pressed a little longer, has been given a slightly modified appearance and now has an extra option at the bottom to rearrange apps. There is also a new setting for 3D Touch and Haptic Touch. Users can now specify how long the iPhone screen must be pressed for a contextual menu or other function to appear.

In the new public beta version of iOS 13, there is also a new icon for the voicemail function of the Messages app. And those who install the latest beta of iPadOS on their tablet will notice that the app icons have become somewhat smaller here. The updates to tvOS, intended for the Apple TV, and macOS Catalina for Mac computers are mostly unnamed bug fixes and performance improvements.
