Apple may still allow Steam Link app for iOS

There may be a version of the Steam Link app on iOS after all. Initially, Apple rejected Valve’s application, but the two are now working together to create a version that doesn’t break the App Store rules.

That’s according to an email sent out by Phil Schiller, who works at Apple as vice president. The email was shared on Reddit, and its contents indicate that while Apple initially rejected the Steam Link application, it intends to bring the software to iOS. For that, it works together with Valve.

According to Schiller, the application initially offered by Valve for publication on the App Store has a number of issues. For example, guidelines regarding user generated content, in-app purchases and content codes would be violated. In the long run, a version must be released that is allowed according to Apple’s guidelines, although no target date was given for this.

The company released a test version of its Steam Link app for Android on May 18. The app allows streaming games from PC to Android devices.
